Spier Wine Farm is Growing for Good!November 22, 2018
Here’s a few ways how we went green at the 2018 Airbnb Summit
“Going Green” is one of the most important ongoing trends in the world today as we know it. With this 2018 International Airbnb Summit with the hosts, we made it an absolute mission to make sure that we did as much as we could to contribute to our environment and expand our Green Footprint. This is how we did it:
1. We used Post winks Fabric Coated Cardboard Bins all over the venue. They are compact and extremely cost effective. The Bins are made of Cardboard and covered with polypropylene fabric which not only lengthens the lifespan in those cold, windy, rainy or sunny days but also gives it a stylish look which would fit right into any conference or event. Its easy to transport and even easier to empty because of its light weight. We would suggest using eco-friendly bags to cover the insides but other than that these bins are very efficient and helpful. The bins come in various colours and the contents waste is easily identifiable by the signage: Blue for Paper, Yellow for Plastic, Red for Tin Cans, Black for General Waste, Green for Glass, Green for Recyclable Dry Waste.
2. Clearer Conscience was our go-to company for collecting all our recyclable waste and materials and their job is to make sure that it is transported to places that benefit the environment, people and animals. It was an absolute pleasure to work with such a reputable company and we were able to dispose of our waste at an affordable price. They not only collect the waste, but your service is monitored constantly and to make sure it is transported to the best and correct places for recycling. With all our waste being separated by the amazing Post wink bins it was just a simple, easy process that wasted no time (Sometimes it’s all the small things that add up to help make you conference/event successful). Out of 278kg of waste 211kg was recycled, that works out to 75% Recycling!
3. For delegate water stations we used Aquacello’s range of AWG Sky Water Machines. The Atmospheric Water Generators range from 20 litres per day to 1000 litres per day. With water becoming scarcer and more polluted and global populations increasing, the demand on our natural resources are at an all-time high and this is the perfect way to combat that. We had various water stations placed all over the conference venue including near by the main conference venue, reception and registration area as well as in the speaker and media holding room. These Machines were an absolute win with delegates and staff and were easily accessible at anytime of the day which kept our delegates happy and hydrated throughout.
